Lascoula Wins 2nd Title; Sets Record

Abington, Mass – Nick Lascoula’s 2014 Seekonk Speedway racing season has gone from being highly successful to being record-setting. His 11th INEX Legend Car win of the season on Friday tied a track record for most wins in a season in one division and elevated him past Modified legends Ron Bouchard and Leo Cleary to 20th on Seekonk’s all-time wins list.

Oh, by the way, he also clinched his second straight track championship in the Legend Car division with two races still left to run.

“I am so thankful to my team, my fans and my sponsors for everything that’s happened this season,” Nick said. “The 15-40 Connection and Barrett’s Haunted Mansion have supported us all year with the Legend Car and I’m glad we could bring them a championship and so many wins. The competition in this division is very tough this year, and it gets tougher every week. We were really on our game tonight and that’s why we’re standing in victory lane.”

Talking about rewriting the history books at the famed Seekonk speedplant, Nick could only shake his head.

“I don’t even really know what to say,” Nick smiled. “I am not old enough to have seen Ron Bouchard and Leo Cleary race here obviously, but everyone tells me how great they were. Even to be mentioned in the same breath in all-time wins is something I never could have dreamed of. Not to mention winning back to back championships. I’d like to get that 12th win before the season’s over and set the record for most wins in one division in a season as well. I believe we can, but these other guys aren’t going to make it easy on us so we have to keep working hard!”

Nick’s Late Model race on Saturday saw him finish 7th and remain tied for fourth in points with Gerry DeGasparre. “We were on old tires from the 50-lapper last week, and I think they were just flat worn out,” he said. “The car was spastic the whole race long. It had a constant four-wheel slide. It wouldn’t turn. We had no grip. It was just one of those nights where you just can’t go anywhere. But, after winning our second straight Legend Car title last night and all that went with that, I can’t really complain. This season has been very good to us so far. We’ll just go back to the shop and do what we can to come out strong again next week!”

On Friday, Nick takes to the track for another 25-lap Nick’s Pit Stop INEX Legend Car race before competing in a 30-lap feature with the Late Model on Saturday.
