Lascoula Wins 9th at Seekonk!

Abington, Mass – When it comes to INEX Legend Car competition at Seekonk Speedway in 2014, one name stands above the rest. Nick Lascoula scored his 9th win in 10 races last Friday and swept the division’s Phil’s Propane Triple Crown series for 2014.

He followed that winning performance on Friday by finishing fourth in his Late Model on Saturday to score his sixth straight top five in that division this season.

In Friday’s 30-lap Legend Car race, Nick started 14th out of the 20 car field. He knew he would have to work for the victory because with each passing week his competition learns and gets faster.

It took him until lap 26 on a restart to scoot by leader Dylan Izzo and go on to take the checkered flag, but he got the job done.

“I wasn’t sure we were going to get this one tonight,” Nick smiled after his win. “Dylan and some of these other guys are really fast now and it take a while to get through traffic. I’m glad we had an extra five laps tonight. We definitely needed them. Winning the Phil’s Propane Triple Crown again is awesome and I am so thankful to them for sponsoring these races and to my sponsors and my team for everything they do. To be able to say that in the first ten races of the year we have not been beaten on the track is pretty amazing, but we have to keep working hard because everyone else is working hard, too. They’re a good bunch of drivers to race with and it makes Fridays fun.”

Saturday’s 50-lap Late Model race was also a challenging affair. Nick started 10th, and began to charge through the field with his yellow No. 39 right away.

By lap ten he found himself in fifth place. In front of him was championship contender and multi-time winner Dylan Estrella.

Nick got by him in two laps. “Our car was working really well in the first half of the race,” Nick said.

Ryan Vanesse came on to challenge and pass Nick, and Nick fell behind him in line running fifth. Both of them caught third place Charlie Rose, and on lap 24 they both passed Rose, putting Nick back to fourth.

“My car had tightened up more and more as the race went on,” Nick added. “I was having a harder time turning through the center of the corner at the end. Dylan Estrella caught us but we held on for fourth. It’s our sixth straight top five finish so we’re pretty excited about that. It also puts us third in points now behind Bobby Pelland and Dylan (Estrella) so we’re definitely thankful for the season we’ve had so far and all of the people who’ve helped us get here!”

Nick will be back on the track in both divisions next weekend.
