Andrew Schartner Starts Oswego Speedway SBS Season off With Big Win!

Oswego, N.Y. – Andrew Schartner is one of two racers who are making a 1500 mile round trip each Saturday night this season from the Charlotte, North Carolina area to Oswego, New York to compete at the famed “fast 5/8-mile” oval.

This past Saturday, Andrew made his first trip of the year worthwhile as he started 10th for the 30-lap Pathfinder Bank Small Block Supermodified (SBS) feature and parked the Crow Motorsports No. 18 in victory lane at the end.

“Sure feels good to start a season with a win!” Andrew said with a smile in victory lane. “I could tell from the setup after qualifying that we were going to be pretty good. We started 10th and of course fell back a bit because we started on the outside. Once we got moving, the car got quick after about ten laps and would work in either lane but was really potent on the high side. I just managed to sneak under the incident between (Michael) Bruce, (Danny) Abt, and (J.J.) Andrews and that put me in second. Then we had 12 laps to deal with the 47 car.”

Jon Tesoriero was the leader. Andrew picks up the story.

“I tried the high side a few times but as I got out there he would get loose and slide up half-a-groove. With about 5 laps left I had a run off of four and had to make an aggressive move inside. I felt like I had the the line but it was a bold move. We banged wheels and I managed to sneak by. After that I was in open air and had clear sailing for the win. I’m really happy for the crew and our sponsors to finally get a win on opening day!”

Andrew and the Crow Motorsports team will be back in action in two weeks for the Tony White Memorial 35-lap race on Saturday, May 24th.
